SCHOOL STUDENTS TO LEAD BASILDON LIBRARIES PROTEST

This Sunday 24th February, meet Vange Library 12.30, walk via Fryerns Library to Basildon Library. Protest to end with rally at 14.00.

A group of school students will lead a protest against library closures in Basildon this Sunday (24/2). They will meet outside under threat Vange Library at half twelve, and process to a closing rally outside Basildon Library at two via the also threatened Fryerns Library. One of the organisers, school student Antonia Listrat said:-

“Libraries are vital for young people because they are an exciting environment which not only inspire reading for pleasure, but also induce a passion for learning. They provide us not only the means to escape into the amazing worlds of writers’ imaginations but they provide so many other services for the literary world.
