Fast Food Shutdown – October 4th

A few posts back, we wrote about Wetherspoons workers coming out on strike in a couple of pubs down in Brighton: Wetherspoons workers to go on strike on October 4th. Well as you can see from the graphic shown above, it looks as though things are escalating into a coordinated day of strike action. Workers at MacDonalds and TGI Friday are also coming out and they’re going to be joined by delivery workers from UberEats and Deliveroo.

This is an interesting development in that it’s precariously employed workers who are taking action. Along with what cutting edge unions such as United Voices of the World have achieved over the last couple of years, it looks like we’re entering a new, dynamic phase of workplace action…
