Some thoughts on the closure of Orsett Hospital

At the Clinical Commissioning Group meeting held in Chelmsford on Friday 6th July to discuss the Sustainability & Transformation Plans for NHS services across much of Essex, it was acknowledged that the real reasons for the closure of Orsett Hospital were not clinically driven. The editor of the Thurrock Independent, Neil Speight, has been following developments with this situation closely and rather than re-hash everything he wrote, these are his words taken from the paper’s Facebook page: Thurrock Independent News – EDITOR’s COMMENT.

We think Neil Speight’s comments have hit the nail right on the head. Bringing Orsett up to scratch would cost just £10million.
