Victory for Labatt’s brewery workers.

The following statement received via Labour Start

A settlement has been reached ending the 11-month strike by members of the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE/NUPGE) at the Labatt brewery in St. John’s, NL.

Your support over these months has been critical to keep pressure on the employer and let them know that workers around the world are standing with the 45 strikers. But your support also helped keep the spirits up of these dedicated workers.

Together, we helped these union members take on a profitable multinational looking to impose global standards on this small workforce. Together, we stood up against scabs on the job. Together, we helped them say no to a race to the bottom.

And today, because of their strength and the solidarity that has been shown to them, they are happy to get back to work brewing the beer they love, at jobs they love. Thank you for helping make it happen.

Tonight, join them in raising a glass to celebrate their victory!
